I Try 4 Best-Selling Heat Protectants for Hair – See the Results!

Today I’ll review hair products that aren’t extremely popular yet. I’m a bit surprised because they’re the most effective for protecting our hair against damage caused by the sun, high temperatures and external aggressors. Thanks to them, our daily hair care efforts bear fruits and aren’t wasted when we take hold of a dryer. I’ve tried the best-selling heat protectant sprays and know which one’s perfect and which ones have some flaws. Enjoy reading. <3

As I curled my hair 😉

How do I protect my hair against heat damage?

  • Applying a heat protectant right before heat styling is obviously the first step and I never skip it. I spread a small amount across the hair and give it a moment to sink in.
  • I’m cutting down on flat-iron and curlers. When I use them, I never set the highest temp. I prefer to spend more time on getting straight hair rather than burn it.
  • Recently I saw a heatless curling trick using a sock! You must try it too! I’m definitely gonna write a separate post about it.

I’ve tried the best-selling thermal protection sprays for hair. Check which one did best!

#1 Nanoil Heat Protectant Spray

As usual, I had to analyse the ingredient list before buying. Nanoil Heat Protectant Spray is rich in hydrolyzed silk proteins which brilliantly smooth the hair, strengthening it and stopping breakage at the same time. I love how it makes my tresses super smooth, shiny and soft. Still, protection against 220 degrees Celsius is the greatest thing. Using this protectant is very easy and a little goes a long way. Any extra benefits? When I use it my hair never gets frizzy or poofy. As you can see, the 200-ml bottle offers many benefits. I like Nanoil Heat Protectant Spray the most. Get yourself one as long as it’s available – the price is encouraging too.

#2 Davines Haircare Melu Hair Shield

Now an offering from Davines. The effect is okay but let me start with a flaw. It comes in a bigger bottle but costs much more than my favourite Nanoil. Davines Haircare Melu Hair Shield used to be my top choice – now I prefer a more budget-friendly option. When it comes to Davines, this spray is designed for long hair, and, what’s most important, it protects the strands from thermal damage, plus has an extra intense smoothing effect and leaves the hair glossy.

#3 Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Heat/UV Protective Primer

This hair primer is the cheapest and the smallest. It’s only 60 ml but that’s great for summer holidays. I’ve heard there’s also a bigger version but couldn’t find it. Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Heat/UV Protective Primer abounds in oils – six of them! – making up an amazing formula. It doesn’t overload my strands but some girls complain it’s too thick for fine hair. I love how it smells! It guards the hair from heated devices but also the sunlight. I always have it with me when I’m on the beach and use it once every few hours.

#4 Kemon AND Heat Spray 13

Here’s another light-textured and easy-to-use spray. It sinks in fast and doesn’t weigh hair down. I like to use it before flat-ironing because apart from protecting, it has a strongly-smoothing effect and helps the hair stay frizz-free for many hours. Some girls recommend using it as a hairspray for hold after styling but I haven’t tried that yet. It’s affordable but doesn’t last long and we need a large amount for single use.

That’s the end of the list with best-selling heat protectants for hair. I like all four but Nanoil is my top choice during my daily hair styling routine, Bumble and Bumble is in my travel bag. Again, I encourage you to get such a product – the condition of your hair will get better quickly, I’m sure.

If you’re using some other heat protectant, then share its name in a comment. <3
